How long have you been in business?
Ephrata Cloister was founded is 1732 by a German immigrant,Conrad Beissel. In 1941 the Commonwealth of PA purchased the property and over the next 25 years worked to restored the remaining 18th century buildings. What is your primary product or service?
Ephrata Cloister’s historic buildings, collections, and programming invite the exploration of this unique community’s spiritual, creative, and intellectual accomplishments by encouraging visitors to develop a personal connection to Pennsylvania’s significant role in religious toleration and intellectual freedom. Ephrata Cloister is administered by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission and is actively supported by the Ephrata Cloister Associates which is a non-profit community-based organization.
In addition to tours of this historic site we also have a Museum Store.

Ephrata Cloister historic site is a National Historic Landmark with 9 original buildings dating from c. 1734 - 1840.

From PA Turnpike Exit 286, take Rt. 222 south to the Ephrata Exit. At the bottom of the ramp turn right onto Rt. 322 West (Main Street) following this through the town of Ephrata. After you cross the bridge, Ephrata Cloister is on your left at 632 West Main Street.
From Lancaster take Rt. 30 West to Rt. 222 North to the Ephrata Exit. Turn left at the bottom of the ramp onto Rt. 322 West (Main Street) following this through the town of Ephrata. After you cross the bridge Ephrata Cloister is on your left at 632 West Main Street.
